empathy amplifier

i wish for this kind of apparatus

so that each sentient being would feel excactly the pain of all the other sentient beings

especially the most arrogant of beings, the human one, has an urgent need for this technique

as it has the chance to but doesn't bother fully understanding the consequences of its actions




but once the empathy amplifier started

all humans would instantly interrupt whatever they are doing

cause they would feel with full force the whole spectrum of damage they brought onto other beings

they would feel the knife cutting into an animal like it was their own

the child taken away from a mother like it was their own




maybe break down in tears

but with all certainty question and overcome the tyranny of humankind

in a shiver of realization they will ask themselves

what have we done to this planet and its inhabitants?

How can we ever make up to all the horrible crimes we have committed?



Only a lifetime in service of doing the most good possible seems adequate enough
